You
can get there easily from Lovere and from Riva di Solto.
It is located in one of the most charming valleys of Bergamo: the
Valle Cavallina. The lake Endine is exactly in the middle
of the valley, giving it a special touch. The surface of the lake
is a little more modest than that of the Lake Iseo: only 2,34
square km. Mostly the waters coming from Monte Boario feed it. One
can find the following species of fish:
among others:
pikes, the perch, the carp, the tench, etc.
The places
to visit are
Monasterolo, Endine, Spinone al lago, San Felice al
lago and Ranzanico.
Monasterolo is probably the most frequented spot on the lake,
especially in summer. Interesting in fact is, its medieval centre
that stretches out to the lakeside. Also worth a visit is the
medieval castle with its spectacular colourful garden. Inside the
castle in 1600 was built a small church, which was dedicated to
Saint Anna. The Spinone al Lago is very well located: the
ancient nucleus is built a little higher than the lake surface and
has a fine Roman architecture, for example the church S.Pietro
in Vincoli, probably one of the most ancient religious
buildings of the valley. The castle that once stood in Spinone was
demolished in the XV century. Everywhere the visitor is treated to
the most splendid panoramas on the lake. The village Ranzanico is
built at 520 metres above the lake level. Its ancient centre shows
that this once was a fortification (the tower on the market
square). |
