Marone (Bs) |
| |
|
From
Sale Marasino to Marone the road leads us along many villa’s of
great beauty all built near the lake, in a way that it seems they
are just rising up out of the water. The free view on the islands
and the ancient hills alows the visitor to enjoy romantic and
picturesque panoramas. Right on the lake-side lies the biggest
camping site of Marone: the camping Riva san Pietro where the
tourist can enjoy splendid sceneries of Montisola and the absolute
quietness of this very well-equipped camping. Few chilometers
ahead we find the historic centre of Marone with the romantic
boulevard on the lake side for romantic strolls, and the
kathedral called San Martino Vescovo. The municipality
of Marone is part of the “Associazione Nazionale Città dell’Olio”
(National Association Oil City). |

Eremo di San Pietro:
We
advise paying a visit to the Eremo di San Pietro of the XIV
Century, in Pregasso. This small holy building is built on the
panoramic rock over the lake, to be reached thanks to a steep
stairway out of stones and part of the Via Crucis. The religious
building has a gable facade and a pronaos with columns of Sarnico
stone. |
| |
Parrocchiale:
the
Parrocchiale di Tours dedicated to San Martino
Vescovo (XVIII th Century). This church presents a beautiful
façade in Baroque stile, has two orders with Ionic pilaster
strips. The inside has one bay, rectangular in plan and has an
altar in marble. |

Santuario
Madonna della Rota:
On
the road to Zone, a few chilometres before the Pyramids of Earth,
a to the right bending road leads to a green valley where the
Santuario della Madonna della Rota is situated. This
small church is of the XIII th Century. The frescoes on the façade
are precious jewels. On the inside, the central niche contains the
statue of the Madonna Assunta, while those on the side have
small statues of the saints that are protector of these places.
Above the altar hangs a wooden crucifix of 16th Century. |

Vello:
Vello
is a picturesque district of Marone, comprised of a small
group of houses facing the sun. The long lakeside walk,
open to pedestrians or cyclists only, offers charming
corners of unspoiled nature and sections of coast that jut
out over the water. In Vello there is also a 15th-century
church and graveyard with beautiful frescoed exteriors.
