Driving
on the East side of Sebino, a few kilometres after Predore and in
the direction of Tavernola, we reach Gallinarga, a small
centre situated on top of a ridge. A few houses at the lake
presented beautifully picturesque. Worthwhile visiting is the
small church of S. Giorgio Martire of 1200. Then we reach
Tavernola with its elegant lakeside with trees, the fine small
port and the tower of Fenaroli, facing the lake, that was part of
the fortification that once protected the ancient habitation.
Today it is equipped with a bell and a clock. Protected by the
mountains that surround it, Tavernola has a gentle climate.
Beuatiful ancient villas that belong to noble families: Villa
Fenaroli of the sixteenth century with botanic parc, Villa
Caprioli, Villa Camilla Fenaroli, Villa Capuani, Villa Poma, Villa
Spina and Villa Longari.
In summer the bars, pubs and restaurants open there
verandas for tourists, assuring their guests a relaxing dinner
with the caressing of the little lake-breeze. From the port, there

San Pietro Apostolo:
The
“Chiesa di S.Pietro”
it adjoins the graveyard and has been for centuries the parrocchiale.The bell tower rises above the sloping roof of the
church and dominates the surrounding built-up area.Inside there
are frescosfrom the XV cent., all quite well-preserved.The parvis
is a sort of balcony on the lake, giving unforgettable scenery. |

Santa Maria Maddalena:
From
the ‘Via Torre’ one reaches the historic centre where the
Chiesa di Santa Maria Maddalena is situated, built on the
ruins of the castle. The façade presents pilaster strips with
Ionic capitols. Inside, in baroque stile, an altar in marble and
paintings of 1500-1600. |
