CAMONICA
VALLEY |
| |
|
This is a very interesting territory. Enclosed between the
mountains that sometimes exceed 3,000 metres, this valley attracts
those who love climbing, winter sports, and history. The Valle
Camonica, valley of the pre-Alps with the river Oglio
running through it. It starts at the Gavia Pass and runs through
the ‘Alpi Orobie’ on the west side and the Adamello on the east.
It passes through the Noce Valley via the Tonale pass and after
the Valtellina valley it runs through the Aprica pass. From Edolo
to Breno to the lake Iseo, you will find woods, grapes for wine
cultivating, fruit trees and cereals. Of great value are the
engravings of the Bronze era in Capo di Ponte, Nardo and Cembergo.
The engravings represent images of animals, weapons, hut,
pile-dwellings, human pictures and symbolic signs. |
