The notoriety of Zone is thanks to the presence, in the locality of Cislano, of enormous natural spire roofs of earth that sustain big massifs. The pyramids of earth, created by erosion, are the result of a rare natural phenomenon of which there are not many in the world. The valley of the pyramids is to be reached, from Marone, through an uphill road with many curves. After the church San Giorgio in Clislano, one has to follow a path of approx. 1 chilometre, that finishes on two small squares with benches excellent for a short break and a chance to admire the incomparable scenery of the pyramids of earth, the "Piramidi di Terra". Within this extraordinary place, the small church chiesetta di San Giorgio, parish of Zone until the XVIth Century and built in the XVth Century. On the outer side wall there are still good visible frescoes from 1400, among which San Giorgio killing the dragon. Going further in the direction of Zone, after approx. 500 metres, on the top of a hill you’ll see on your right the church Chiesa dei Santi Ippolito e Cassiano of the XVth Century. The façade, very similar to the hermitage of San Pietro in Marone, presents a pronaos with cross vault. The inside with one bay conserves frescoes and the wooden statues of the saints Ippolito and Cassiano. The portal is made of stones of Sarnico. Once arrived in the picturesque centre of zone, laying on a green platform surrounded by woods, we notice beautiful houses of the 17th century and characteristic alleys. On the square Piazza Giuseppe Almici a church of the 18th century dedicated to the Beata Vergine di Lourdes, octagonal in plan. On the same square the parish of Saint John Baptist Parrocchiale San Giovanni Battista of the XVIIth Century. The side entrance is preceded by a pronaos with cross vault. The inside is rich of decorations and has one bay; the altar is in marble polychrome.
